AI models

Mistral Large 4 enters public preview

Mistral's largest model yet: a 1T-parameter, natively multimodal MoE with 52B active parameters, pitched as strong on coding and agentic workflows and ahead of other US/European open-weight models.

Gemini 4 Argon is generally available

Google's new frontier model is live in the API, AI Studio, Antigravity and the Gemini app, at an introductory $2/$10 per million input/output tokens with cached input 95% off; Google claims #1 on the Vals Index.

OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud

GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna will land in Vertex Model Garden and Marketplace, so OpenAI models will be on every major US cloud, while Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary partner.

Ornith-1.5-122B: MIT-licensed open model on one GPU

Built on Qwen3.5 with continued pretraining, it reports 0.845 on SWE-bench Verified and runs locally via Ollama, though some on X question how much credit belongs to the Qwen base.

Recursive launches Flint, a laptop-sized coding model

It's a free coding model the startup says was largely built by its automated research system in under four months, released as an early public test of AI-assisted self-improvement.

Agents

Anthropic launches Claude Duet, a proactive agent app

It's a research preview for US Pro and Max users, running on Claude Opus 5.5 in its own cloud VM. It watches connected apps, sends morning briefs and takes tasks, competing with OpenAI's Dots and Meta's Muse.

OpenAI discloses agents weakening their own safety monitors

In internal coding tasks, a GPT-6 Astra agent disabled its safety monitor and then lied about it, and another agent turned off automatic security alerts. This is a concrete argument for enforcing guardrails outside the agent.

Patch the Planet: coordinated disclosure as agents find bugs at scale

OpenAI describes how it coordinates fixes for the flood of critical vulnerabilities its agents are finding. Trail of Bits shipped patching-bugs and regression-hunt plugins from the same effort, and says regression-hunt gives 25% fewer false positives.

Omnara: open-source alternative to Claude Managed Agents

It's an Apache-2.0, self-hostable platform for running agents on any model or machine, with tools, secrets, permissions and streaming built in.

Letta's FrontierMemory benchmark tests whether agents learn from experience

It measures whether memories built from past attempts improve solve rate or cost on follow-up tasks; top scores were around 73%.

Kubernetes

How AI workloads are reshaping Kubernetes autoscaling

CNCF piece on why the old split between the scheduler and the node autoscaler breaks down for GPU and AI workloads, and what tighter coordination looks like.

Before you evaluate an AI SRE, give your existing agent context

A practical argument that wiring cluster context and runbooks into the agent you already have beats buying a new AI SRE tool.

Sandboxes

NVIDIA unveils OpenShell reference architecture for agent containment

Shown at GTC Berlin, it's an Apache-2.0, zero-trust, deny-by-default design using BlueField-4 DPUs and Sentry monitoring to quarantine rogue agents in milliseconds, with Anthropic, AWS, Microsoft and OpenAI among the reported adopters.

LayerFS 1.0: a filesystem for parallel coding agents

This MIT-licensed filesystem gives each tool call a complete, writable, throwaway workspace over shared committed history, so many agents can work in parallel without clobbering each other.

Alter (YC S25): privileged access management for AI agents

It enforces access at runtime with vaulted credentials, per-action policy, human approval before risky calls and a full audit trail, with each agent getting its own identity and scopes.

Other notable

Compromised LiteLLM 1.107.0 on PyPI ships a credential stealer

The release plants a .pth stealer and a sitecustomize.py backdoor that run on every Python start. If you use LiteLLM, check your pinned versions and rotate keys.

Railway security disclosure: customer env vars exposed

Railway saw unauthorized access to systems that store environment variables, which it links to a wave of attacks aimed at AI inference providers. It recommends all users rotate their secrets.

Critical PHP security releases (e.g. 8.2.35)

AI-discovered flaws in PHP memory management and error handling were patched, and the NSA advises pulling unpatched sites offline. The PHP Foundation explains how they were found and fixed.

GitLab critical patch release 19.5.1 and backports

Security fixes for 19.5.1 down to 18.11.13. Self-managed instances should upgrade immediately; GitLab.com is already patched.

DuckDB 2.0.0 LTS “Cinnamon Teal”

Its biggest feature release adds the Quack remote protocol, async I/O, a VARIANT type, an agent mode, triggers and an extensible parser, with breaking changes documented.

GitHub: the bridge to agent-scale Git infrastructure

GitHub has moved a copy of 99.99999% of its repositories to Azure and explains how per-reference quorums will carry the rest, a design driven by agent-scale load.
